How do we protect our children against the bad influence of mass media?

Nowadays, Mass Media has a great influence on shaping our children's way of thinking and attitude. But it's too difficult to protect our children from it because it already became a part of our lives on the modern world. Imagine a two year old child nowadays talking about violence he sees on the TV, and speaks some bad words he hears on the radio or TV and a 5 year old child who knows about sex because he saw it on the internet and everything. But what I can say is that, it might be good if we don't allow our kids to watch TV or play computer all day long and we have to choose good TV programs for them to watch. It is also neccesary to be there if our kids are watching TV sometimes.
